Prior to working as a psychotherapist I had a successful career in the City working in the legal and financial sectors which has made me very aware of the stresses and strains of working in high pressured environments
My Work: In addition to my private practice as a psychotherapist I also work with the NHS in a secure mental health unit in south London. During the past I have worked as a volunteer with various mental health and sexual health organisations providing both long term and short term psychotherapy and counselling. In addition I am a trustee and director of a small charity that can arrange therapy with trainee psychotherapists for clients who are living on benefits or have a very low income the charity is called Freshstart Psychotherapy. Prior to completing my training with CCPE I worked as a lawyer and was a partner of and departmental head to a firm of Solicitors in the City of London.
My Approach: I work with clients in an integrative way which reflects my wide range of qualifications. This enables me to design and agree unique approaches for each individual client using various therapeutic techniques. By combining therapeutic approaches in an appropriate and gentle setting change can be facilitated at a core level. Whether you have decided to enter into therapy to address a specific issue or for personal growth the therapeutic relationship will enable you to work towards the outcome that you desire within a safe environment. I am qualified as a psychotherapist, counsellor and hypnotherapist - these multiple qualification enable me to offer clients an almost unique range of approaches.
My Background:Before qualifying as a psychotherapist, I worked as Solicitor for 25 years. I was both a partner and departmental head of a respected firm of solicitors in the City of London. I retired from the law in order to complete my studies in psychotherapy. Having worked in the City I have personal experience of working in high pressured professional environments and the stresses and strains that those working conditions can engender. Many of my private clients come from similar work backgrounds. I have a particular interest in psychological issues that arise for individuals where there is a conflict between their work environments and their private lives.
